Our internal medicine specialists diagnose and treat various canine and feline systemic diseases utilizing advanced, state-of-the-art equipment.

Overview

Our Internal Medicine Department consists of board-certified specialists trained in the function of body systems including the gastrointestinal, urinary, endocrine, respiratory, circulatory, immune, and hematologic systems. Some commonly treated conditions include endocrine disease (diabetes, Cushing’s disease, Addison’s disease), gastrointestinal disease (chronic enteropathy, GERD), urinary disease (stones, infection, chronic kidney disease), immune disease (IMHA, ITP, IMPA) and infectious disease (fungal, protozoal, bacterial).

Our internal medicine team prides itself on using a team approach to provide excellent patient care. This allows collaboration within the department and with other specialty departments and services to create a comprehensive plan for diagnosis and treatment of your pet’s illness.

Upstate Vet utilizes advanced, state-of-the-art equipment to help our internal medicine specialists reach an accurate diagnosis for each patient and determine the best plan for treatment. Some of the in-house procedures we provide include high-resolution ultrasound for abdominal imaging, CT scan, endoscopy (for GI, respiratory and urinary disease) and fluoroscopy.

From the time of initial consultation and throughout the entire time with us, your pet will be treated by a caring and compassionate medicine team. In addition to consultations, we offer Diagnostic Outpatient Ultrasound Services.
