Originally from Charleston, South Carolina, Dean has spent the past decade calling Blythewood (Columbia) home. He brings more than 20 years of leadership experience across healthcare, public service, education, and business operations, having served in multiple senior leadership roles within hospital systems. 

Dean earned a Doctor of Health Administration from the Medical University of South Carolina and holds master’s degrees in business and public health from American InterContinental University and Arizona State University, respectively.

Dean currently serves as an adjunct professor at the University of South Carolina’s Darla Moore School of Business, where he teaches management courses to undergraduate and graduate students. He also advises the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. chapter at Allen University, where he is passionate about mentorship and leadership development, particularly among young men.

Outside of work, Dean enjoys volunteering, advocating for the voiceless, and exploring new restaurants and cuisines. He and his wife, Shanta, have been together for 21 years and married for 18, raising four children—Iyanna, Jade, Christian, and Brayden—along with two boxer dogs, Bane and Jaxon Eli.
